Paradigm Gallery is pleased to present Authenticator, a solo exhibition of new works by Amsterdam-based American artist Hyland Mather. This series is a continued exploration of collage and reimagining lost objects for the artist with a push further towards abstraction through painterly, geometric diptychs. This series also pulls collage in another direction towards the spoken word and poetry through the layered word-based pieces of the series. These different approaches to finding new life in what has been lost and bringing it into the future serve as two sides of the same coin in this new collection. Through his process, the artist is authenticating both the value of the elements behind the piece as well as its final resulting existence and purpose. "I’m not striving to remind or reminisce or wax nostalgic, in my mind I’m mending the many uses of the concept of authentication to a contemporary perspective." Authenticator will be open to the public from July 22 to August 21, 2022, with an opening reception on Friday, July 22nd, from 5:30 - 8:00 PM.
