SOUTH STREET MURALS (ONGOING)
HAHA x Paradigm brought UK-based artist My Dog Sighs to town to create a mural on the 400 block of South during the largest Oktoberfest ever to take place on South Street.
HYLAND MATHER
Hyland Mather (aka @TheLostObject) stopped by Philly again to bring his playful spirit to an underpass in Bella Vista. Hyland’s work is instantly recognizable by his unique use of shape, and composition.
BEFORE I DIE...
Before I Die is an interactive public art project created by Candy Chang, which invites people to share their hopes and dreams in a public space. Painted with chalkboard paint and stenciled with the sentence “Before I die I want to _______”, the wall becomes a space where we could share hopes and dreams.
BEAUTIFUL TIMES
Artists Amanda Marie and X-O road tripped around the US leaving behind beautiful art installations at every tour leg to raise awareness about the world we live in, the protection of our children, and wild flowers. The tour supported the Lady Bird Johnson and The Morgan Adams Foundation.
POTHOLE MOSAICS
We brought Chicago-based mosaic artist, Jim Bachor to Philly to fill in the city's potholes with his signature pieces. Not only did the project give us an opportunity to fill some car breakers, but what a delight and surprise it will be for people to look down and see these beautiful mosaics instead.
CLINT TILLMAN REID
We created a city-wide scavenger hunt with designer and illustrator Clint Tillman Reid that saw Clint placing is signature works at secret locations throughout Philly. Users participated in the hunt, and some even chatted with Clint, by following clues given on the Paradigm social channels.
THE GUARDIANS BY VLADIMIR ANTAKI
For Vlad's residency, we installed life-sized photographs of past Guardians —those individuals who bear and safeguard tradition, know-how, and memory of entire cities through their businesses — in vacant storefronts along South Street. After the installs were complete we hosted an Artist Talk at Paradigm Gallery, so the community could hear the stories behind the photographs.
AMBERELLAXO X SOUTH ST FEST
As a part of its ongoing effort to enliven and bring art to the business corridor, South Street Headhouse District and HAHAxParadigm partnered with Philadelphia artist Amberella to create an over 100ft long wheat-pasted mural wrapping the NW corner of 2nd St and South St. The simple messages of encouragement and love conjure a sentiment of hope both for the street and the community at large.
