NDA: All Parts
July 12, 2024 - August 25, 2024

Paradigm Gallery + Studio is pleased to present All Parts, a solo exhibition featuring the work of public and gallery artist NDA. All Parts showcases NDA’s appreciation of abstract patterns and compositions in space across a variety of mediums: woodworking, painted canvas, collage, and sculpture. As if pulled from an alternate reality, NDA’s work is distinct with its technicolor hues and deceptive movement. A cosmic installation titled My Dream Walked on Four Legs, Pushing Air will be presented alongside the exhibition, a cacophony of fantastical structures in three-dimensional illustration. Known internationally for his public murals, NDA takes his expert understanding of scale, color, and space to transform the gallery into a captivating forest of bold patterns and shapes. Composed of 80 hand-cut and painted pieces installed to float across the room, My Dream Walked on Four Legs, Pushing Air is a surreal landscape inviting visitors to experience from all angles. All Parts will be on view on the second floor of the Paradigm Arts Building (12 N 3rd St) from July 12 through August 25, 2024, with a ticketed preview night on Thursday, July 11 from 5:00-8:00 pm

NDA’s dual identity of fine artist and muralist is a driving force when considering all aspects of the exhibition space. Whether it is a wall-hanging sculpture or collaged canvas, he is constantly considering the viewing experience of the work from all angles and apertures. He engages different mediums to emphasize the vibrant colors and expanding shapes he creates. He begins his collaged works with familiar textures like chain links or shattered glass. He then weaves together graphic patterns and cut canvas to create portals of movement and color. He follows the same techniques in free-standing and wall-handing sculptures.

NDA’s complementary installation, My Dream Walked on Four Legs, Pushing Air is a one-of-kind art experience that welcomes visitors to walk around a playful landscape that departs from the typical commercial gallery setting. This underlines NDA’s creative motivation to create art that makes his audience feel joy and inspired to explore. The installation employs forms that mimic movement, shadow, and sound to transport visitors to a new reality. The ideas behind the artwork center around using collage and pattern overlay to create unique and personal vistas throughout the environment. The heart of the piece is activated by the openings created by various grids and cutouts. As light permeates through, the gaps function as viewfinders capturing the art objects and moving bodies on the other side of the installation. Visitors hold the power to choose their sight lines, peering through and getting lost in the layers of canvas.

Paradigm Gallery is honored to be presenting My Dream Walked on Four Legs, Pushing Air for the first time in a formal exhibition space. This piece is designed to be tailored to each visitor’s viewing experience, whether enjoyed at a glance or in the round. Harmonizing with the collection, All Parts will the prime example of the many ways in which one can enjoy and value the arts in Philadelphia.

About NDA
NDA is a public and gallery artist based out of Philadelphia. Although his background is in printmaking and illustration, he is now mostly recognized for his focus on murals and large-scale public work. By combining surrealism, comic humor and real-life observations, NDA seeks to shine light on the human condition while at the same time making his audience laugh. His bright and expressive work can be seen around the world from Mexico to Norway. Recent projects have brought him to the Lower East Side for a pop-up show in an abandoned market as well as the Newark Museum and a mural with the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program. NDA has also exhibited his work in cities along the East Coast such as New York, Philadelphia, Newark, and Miami. He has been an artist in residence at Staufferstadt in Strasburg, VA, and the Sunnhordland Folkehogskule Teaching Residency in Norway. Additionally, he has been featured in the New York Times, Ginko Press, and Esquire.

About Paradigm Gallery
Paradigm Gallery + Studio® was established in 2010 by co-founders and curators, Jason Chen and Sara McCorriston. The gallery exhibits meaningful, process-intense contemporary artwork by emerging and mid-career artists from around the world. In 2022, Paradigm announced the opening of its new 5-story, 7,000 sq. ft. home, The Paradigm Arts Building, in Old City, Philadelphia. Now open to the public, the building boasts multiple floors of exhibition space, integrated in-house design and printmaking, a dedicated events floor, and art advisory offices. With this, Chen and McCorriston expanded their vision for the greater Philadelphia arts community. The gallery is at the heart of this vision, anchoring Paradigm’s overall mission of increasing access to the commercial art world, supporting artists and advancing their careers, and collaborating with like-minded partners to build a more equitable, sustainable arts economy for all.
