“I have often heard stories about India as a place that changes your life. The culture and lifestyle, along with a very strong spirituality, being totally different from any other country. Going to Delhi for my trip, I was expecting a place with a very big population, with a totally different way of living from mine.
I can safely say that Delhi is among the most lively and chaotic cities I've ever seen. More than Sao Paulo, or New York, which are active cities, but still more precise and ordered. The city is full of markets, which are as big as entire neighbourhoods. I really enjoyed seeing how people in Delhi often live in the streets, and spend very little time in their homes, and the street food is absolutely delicious! The colors, scents, the vastness of the landscape and the inhabitants are among the most impressive things I've seen in my life.
During my trip I wandered throughout the city, I visited the parks, nurseries and some monuments. For my artwork I played with the color contrasts present in the monuments and landscape of Delhi. I have observed and photographed some of the most interesting vegetation I’ve ever seen, and then I’ve sampled the strongest color tones, such as the classic red "terracotta", found on some particular monuments such as those inside the Sunder Nursery.”
